She first received a master's degree in Physical Education. Years later she also graduated in Photography and Visual Arts at the University Miguel Hernandez in Elche. Founding member of the collective of documentary photographers BLUEPHOTO, in 2011, based in Seville.
Her projects weave stories that usually speak of the everyday. The memory, the time, the identity of the places photographed, emotions, memories, cultural roots and the fragility of this intimate universe of experiences articulate her personal and distinctive visual narrative.
She has received several awards, including the Honor Award of Certamen Nacional Fernando Quiñones 2007, the photographic scholarship granted by Miguel Hernandez Univeristy 2007, the nomination for the international photojournalism Festival Ciudad de Gijon 2010 and she has been shortlisted at Sony World Photagraphy Awards (Arts category) in 2012. Nortempo Foundation, through its international grant "Fototraballo 2011" awarded Susana with the first prize and scholarship award for her project "Faith, passion, destiny." She has also two Honorable Mentions at the IPA International Photography Awards 2012.
In 2013 she received the National Journalism Award "Doñana" in the form of photography for her work on the Galician shell fisher women. In May of the same year she has been awarded with the third prize in Daily Life stories category of the prestigious China International Press Photo Contest, for "The last king of America".
She has worked foR MSF, ANESVAD Foundation and other NGO.
Her solo exhibitions include the Festival Fotoencuentros - CajaMurcia 2010, Festival Internacional de los Encontros da Imagem 2009 of Braga (Portugal) curated by Rui Prata, Galería Contraluz of Pamplona or Lugo council in 2011. She participated in Backlight photo festival 2011 in Tampere (Finland).In 2012 she was exhibited at Argentinian Biennal on Documentary Photography and Caixa Galicia Foundation in Coruña.
Also, she has exhibited in Paris, Tel Aviv and Ragusa, the Contemporary Art Museum in Madrid among others.
Her images have been published in media like: GEO, Le Figaro, Polka Magazine, Ojo de Pez, ABC, EIKON magazine, El País Digital, El Magazine de El Mundo, Interviú, La Nación Revista, Art Kunstmagazine, Mujer Hoy, Campo Base, Rutas del Mudo or Digital Foto, and assiduously illustrate a broad range of national and international media. She has published two books: Legados: Generaciones en tránsito (Artual 2010) and Faith, Passion, Destiny (Nortempo 2012).
She worked several years for the American agency Polaris Images.
Since 2012 she is represented by the agency Cordon Press Reportaje.
She combines her professional work with teaching courses and conferences for Ultraviolet Photography School and Andalusian institutions.
