Artist Statement
Although nature and its processes have always triggered her attention, this subject matter is becoming even more significant in her recent body of work. Here she is trying to investigate - in a highly intuitive way - our relationship towards nature. By captivating the beauty of the natural world she attempts to regenerate this feeling of wonder and contemplation. As today we participate almost exclusively with other humans and with our own human-made technologies. But we still need that which is other than our own creations and ourselves.
Romy Eijckmans received her MFA from Sint-Lukas Brussels University College of Art and Design in 2012. She is living and working in Brussels, Belgium, although she travels extensively for making work. Her photography has been shown in numerous group exhibitions in Belgium and is featured in various online platforms.
