Artist Statement
To me, life is so vague. I have had lots of ambiguous questions every moment in my life, and I try to respond to this ambiguity in my artwork.
To me, the truth shown in emotion is more important than the truth shown in reality. So I am trying to share universal emotion: anger, sadness, fear, Happiness, loneliness etc.. with a viewer through my art work. Because I believe true understanding between a viewer and an artist comes when a viewer's sympathy is aroused.
Process Statement
My artistic practice began with photographs. But, I felt there were limitations to expressing my thoughts, emotions and ideas as typical “photographs".
So I use Polaroid as a medium of my artwork to be diverse.
After take Picture, I usually alter the surface of polaroid: bending, shaking or scratching to express abstraction. My abstraction coexists with the real images I took as a photographer.
Also I make drawing, text and pop up image by cutter knife on the polaroid.
