Artist Statement
Within my work I consider the question, “What do the objects we use reflect about our character”? Utilizing mundane, yet personal items I intend to investigate what can be revealed through documenting similar types of objects and assembling them together for a broader comparison. Through documenting these now purposeless items, all they provide are remnants of the previous owner. A flattened deadpan approach to photographing each object reinforces their banality while the act of photographing reveals their uniqueness. Working as an image-maker and collector, my work exists as both sociological and voyeuristic endeavors.
