Artist Statement
The images from "Urban Wilderness--Chaos Transformed" is a series that commenced in 1990. All are found images, discovered by randomly walking through blighted neighborhoods. My goal was to transform ugliness and chaos into beauty. All the images were shot exactly as found, with no physical or digital alteration.
Most of the images were captured in Manhattan and Los Angeles.
Process Statement
The "Urban Wilderness--Chaos Tranformed" images are shot with a tripod-mounted Hasselblad, Fuji Velvia film; they are printed on Ilfochrome in 30"x30" or 40"x40" or 50"x50" and are limited-edition prints.
The "Working Girls" series is shot in B&W (film) and color (digital).
The "Portrait" series is shot digitally, with minimal darkroom-type adjustments in Lightroom 4.
