David Creedon is a Cork based Irish photographer. Described as a conceptual documentary photographic artist among the projects he has worked on are: The Summertime of my Autumn, Behind Open Doors, The Last Cooper, Una Corda (The soft Pedal), Variations on Pianoforte and Ghosts of the Faithful Departed.
He holds qualifications of Associateship from both the British Professional Photographers Association and the Royal Photographic Society in visual documentary. Critically acclaimed as one of the paramount Irish photographers he has been described by the Irish Independent, as "Cork's Vermeer", while the Irish Times declared his photographs to be "meticulously made".
David's photographs are regularly published and have featured in a range of international magazine and press publications including The Wall Street Journal, The Sunday Times and the BBC. His images have also featured on numerous book and music album covers and he has completed work for Nobel Literature prizewinner Gabriel García Márquez and Booker Prize winner John Banville. Specialising in portrait work he is also known for his documentary and music photography.
He has received international acclaim and he has previously exhibited at national galleries and museums around the world including, the National Portrait Gallery London as well as exhibitions in Addis Adaba, Buenos Aires, Bucharest, Chicago, Delhi, London, New York, Nicosia, Riga, Sarajevo, Sofia, Tbilisi, Thessaloniki, Yerevan, and throughout Ireland including the Irish Museum of Modern Art and the Royal Hibernian Academy..
David has been shortlisted and nominated for a number of major awards, most notably the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize, WPGA Portrait Award, International Color Awards, Prix de la Photographie and the Hamdan International Photography Award.
His considered and beautiful compositions have also been defined as one of the most significant collections of photography in contemporary Ireland and have been described "as one of the most significant collections of photography in contemporary Ireland and will be amongst the most important works of Irish art in years to come", while another critic has written, "His photographs transcend the documentary form and enter the realm of art, they are poems in photographs"
