Swiss artist Augustin Rebetez (1986) lays claim to nothing less than his own special universe: A mysterious, sometimes bitter world where images are standing vis-à-vis upon staggering wall installations. The work is filled with constant interaction – total, discordant, astonishing. And yet, there is an evident and all-pervading harmony. Augustin Rebetez is not only mixing simple images with occasional grandiose production, he also adds epileptic stop-motion videos and gloomy drawings. Here the observer enters the acerbic, out-of-phase universe of a savage sense of humor which, like a body overwhelmed with grief, shatters all our preconceived ideas about art.
