In my work I like to explore the nature of the photographic image and the different ways it can take shape. I’m interested in finding new visual experiences in photography; photographs not singularly recorded by the camera. With the IN THE ROUND series, I've taken dozens of shots of a tree while walking in a circle around it and then layered and refined the shots together to discover what becomes of the orbit -- the tree and its environment in the round.
Multiple shots were taken of the same lamp design in different locations and then overlaid together and refined into a new representation of the lamp and its surroundings. The ongoing series include lamp poles from New York City, San Francisco, Paris, Barcelona, Prague, Berlin, Madrid and Moscow.
Pep Ventosa’s photographs have received honors at the Prix de la Photographie Paris, London International Creative Competition and Photography Masters Cup. In the permanent collection of the Crocker Art Museum, his work has exhibited internationally and been selected for special art exhibitions by the late Robert Rosenblum, curator at New York’s Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Pritzker Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art-Chicago, and the Royal Photographic Society of Madrid.
