Respecting My Elders
These are portraits of creative people over the age of 80 who have affected the American Culture.
These photographs were made in the summer of 1977. I travelled from Tuscany down to Rome, photographing many medieval cities and churches along the way. I stayed in youth hostels and cheap pensiones, and took the train from place to place. I made photographs everywhere I went. They became the basis of my 1978 Master's Thesis at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY.
