This collection of images represents two intertwined bodies of work--
The History Series and
Happenings: the Wondrous Prairie.
The collection of prairie landscapes and photographic assemblages alludes to what might be emerging and withdrawing within the photographic image. As the artist wanders through rural American landscapes with re-collections of inherited memories, her work explores ambiguity, while weakening traditionally held expectations of nature and history. Accordingly the work reflects upon the prairie’s open spaces and poetically formulates uncertain family narratives.
Happenings: the Wondrous Prairie--
The works bring forth an implied happening by alluding to what may be emerging and at the same time, what may be withdrawing from the image. The focus is directed towards the strangeness and alteration found in the thickets, grassland prairies and flood plains of the north Texas and south Oklahoma landscape—specifically the Trinity and Red River corridors.
