Lux Noctis
Introduction
Lux Noctis is a series of photographs depicting landscapes unbound by time and space, inspired by ideas of planetary exploration, 19th-century sublime romantic painting, and science fiction.
We are overwhelmed everyday by beautiful images of the familiar. I imagine these scenes transformed into undiscovered landscapes which renew our perceptions of our world.
Aeroglyphs
Introduction
An evolution of my Lux Noctis project, Aeroglyphs is an ongoing series of large temporary geometries traced by light carrying drones in space. A nod to the Land Art movement, I view Aeroglyphs as non-invasive interventions in the landscape where the medium is simply the trace of light over elemental landscapes.
Each image is a carefully-planned scene consisting of multiple lighting positions to produce a theatrically-lit composition. Using the GPS-enabled aerial light/drones in specific positions in space, I am able to produce moods of drama and tension similar to the painting technique of chiaroscuro, using the ability to illuminate isolated features of a scene to exclude unwanted elements.
The post production process is a significant part of the image-making where I am able to craft the mood of the scene. As I am able to photograph in a non-linear fashion, this allows very fine tuning of the image in my studio.
The images are made with a medium format camera and the landscapes are lit using a self-assembled high-powered LED light mounted to a drone.

Artist Statement
I am a visual artist and music producer.
I'm also co-founder of the band Ladytron.
In my visual work, I am driven not just by the urge to create imagery,
but by a desire to explore new places as if they were unknown territory,
constantly open to serendipity and with an eye for the unnoticed and the hidden.
Photographs, like music, can create an echo of a time and a place.
To me, my images are more than pictures. They are fragments of
memory and imagination.
