Artist Statement
Michele combines her interest in meditation with her passion for fine art photography to create images which reveal the beauty, clarity, and simplicity of everyday objects by focusing on how color, line, light, texture, or shadow can be fresh and new —an anchor to the present moment.
Process Statement
Macro photography and shallow depth of field allows me to focus completely on how the light hits, moves, flows, and interacts with my subject. I prefer to explore the space around my subject by physically changing my position and perspective in order to find the right angle with which to capture and convey my subject’s essence.
Originally from Boston, Michele has lived in both the southwest and southeast regions of the country and now happily resides in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. When she’s not referring to herself in the third person, Michele enjoys traveling with her husband and son, working on home improvement projects, admiring ’60s muscle cars, and detailing her Tacoma. Michele is almost never without her trusty point-and-shoot or cell phone cameras and has learned the myriad joys of viewing and sharing photos on social media.
Michele has shown her photographs in group exhibitions and has been been published in Black & White magazine.
