Artist Statement
As an artist with a reverent curiosity about the natural world, I am a constant collector of nature's commonplace wonders. Instead of simply documenting these specimens, however, my intention is to convey the mysteries that I feel in their presence, exploring themes of fragility and endurance, beauty and decay, chance and destiny, life and death.
Process Statement
Objects are photographed in natural light, often with extensive manipulation of light and shadow to convey the ephemeral, transient quality of time. In some images, layers of lines and other marks seem to blur the boundary between drawing and photography.
Images are captured on film. Negatives are scanned and printed digitally. Archival prints are in editions of 25.
