Artist Statement
Gaston Lacombe specializes in documentary photography, with special interest in the relationship between humans and nature, as well as the preservation of human memory.
Gaston Lacombe is a photographer and filmmaker based in Washington, DC, specializing in documentary projects. While he was born and raised in New Brunswick, Canada, he has left his footprints all over the globe. Until receiving his diploma in professional photography from the Boston University Center for the Digital Imaging Art (Washington DC campus), he worked in a wide array of professions, from teacher, to diplomat, to journalist. He also studied at the B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. levels in History (University of Ottawa, University of Toronto). Along with his photography work Gaston is also the Communications Coordinator at the International League of Conservation Photographers and a photography instructor at the Boston University CDIA (Washington DC campus). Gaston's work has won multiple awards, been widely published and exhibited worldwide, and he is a frequent lecturer in museums or universities.
