Introduction
Re-Constructions is an ongoing exploration of the relationship between photography and other artistic mediums, such as painting, sculpture and the ready-made.
These ephemeral sculptures were made using discarded materials from the Hotel Bamer, an iconic hotel from the 1950's in Mexico City that is now in the process of being redeveloped. I like the idea of giving useless objects a new function and identity, and being able to transform them into something else entirely.
I work in spaces that are in transition, and photograph my interventions in each site. The images are a reflection on the ephemeral quality of these objects and spaces, and the intersections that exist between the photographic object and sculpture.
