Humanity Called Their Exploits Immortal

"Arch", Archival ink-jet print, epoxy resin, laser-cut plexiglass and rusted iron, 24 x 30 x 4 cm., work in progress.

Three-dimensional collages made from photographs of architectural details, shot in Eastern Ukraine, mounted on sheets of rusted iron and covered in transparent epoxy resin. Red and black geometric laser-cut forms in plexiglass, inspired by Soviet propaganda posters of the 1920’s, partially obscure the photographs. Frozen in the resin like insects in amber, separated from their original slogans, they are like codes whose meaning escapes us. These three-dimensional sculptures, continually modified through the play of light and perspective, change as the viewer moves around them.
