In 1972 I was on assignment for Time Magazine at the Grammy Awards held at the Century City Hotel in Los Angeles. After the awards I was walking in the hotel lobby and saw Muhammad Ali speaking with singer Pat Boone. Ali saw me and asked me to take their photograph together. Then I took a picture of Ali alone. As I did so Ali raised his fist and said, “If you don’t send me that picture of me and Pat I will slaughter you," as he noticed my name on the i.d. tag I was wearing.
