Fountain of Pythons
Tampa, FL
Room 204

Fountain of Pythons is a photography collective consisting of Tampa based artists and diaspora. Current members include Wendy Babcox, Jeremy Chandler, Marcus DeSieno, Becky Flanders, Forrest MacDonald, Noelle Mason, Chris Otten, Kym O’Donnell, James Reiman, and Selina Roman. Our mission is to provide a regular forum to incubate, discuss, and share new works, knowledge, resources, and ideas in support of each individual’s studio practice, as well as to build a foundation for collaboration, exhibition, and engagement of the public with that practice. Established in 2011.

Fountain of Pythons will present Paradise City, a collaborative curatorial project intended to exhibit their preoccupation with the culture and environment of South Florida. Most of the work is photographic and will be self-consciously hung on the wall not only as art hung in a hotel room but as “hotel art” in that it engages the hotel room as a subject and space for creation. The installation will also include a site specific work by Noelle Mason called “Death Drive” which is comprised of a more than 5,000 artificial flowers ‘harvested’ from Florida road side memorials.
