Philip V. Augustin (b. 1960) lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico. For over thirty-five years an intense curiosity and deep commitment to his personal vision have lead him to produce a wide range of quality work. Drawn by the physicality of the process, he utilizes traditional (non-digital) photographic processes to produce silver gelatin prints notable for their subtlety of tones.
Philip’s current work uses abstract imagery to explore the relationship of objects, spaces, and tonal values to each other and the frame. Most recently his images have been included in; Autophotography at Axle Contemporary in Santa Fe, NM, Light Struck: Abstract Photography Today at PHOTOSTOP Gallery in White River Junction, VT, Abstract Expressions at PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, VT and New Mexico Showcase at 516 Arts in Albuquerque, NM. In 2010 his work was nominated in the Professional Fine Arts category at the 5th Annual Spider Awards. He was a Gold Award winner in the 2009 Single Image awards by Black & White magazine. In 2008 he was a finalist in New Mexico Arts Art in Public Places.
