Artist Statement
Joyce P Lopez-Artist Statement
"The Trouble with Birds", alerts us to problems that birds encounter and their 'early warning system' function about problems on our planet. These birds are photographed in the style of Audubon with great attention to detail.
“The Forest Floor” images are photographs of things in nature that I collected in northern Wisconsin. Taken back to the studio, I arranged them in a decontextualized way on a black background to enhance their importance and graphic quality. As nature gets more and more urbanized, natural environments become more important for their silence as much as anything else.
Process Statement
My work is primarily focused on environmental issues. The images are staged in a non-contextual way, on a black background for enhanced detail.
The images are archivally framed, pigment prints on Museo Rag paper most often 22"X22", with other sizes available. Other mountings/prices are available upon inquiry.
